Biography
Boris Vladimirovich (c. 990s – July 24, 1015; baptized as Roman) was the Prince of Rostov (c. 1010–1015). He was a son of the Kievan Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavich, born either to Princess Anna or to an unknown Bulgarian woman. He was canonized alongside his brother Gleb by the Russian Orthodox Church as a passion-bearer; they are known as Saints Boris and Gleb. Their feast days in the Russian Orthodox Church are May 2 (the translation of the relics of the holy brothers) and July 24 (commemorated together with Prince Gleb) according to the Julian calendar, as well as in the Synaxes of Vladimir, Rostov-Yaroslavl, Ryazan, and Tula saints. He is buried with his brother in Vyshhorod. Boris, under the name Roman the Russian, is included in the list of saints of the Roman Catholic Church.
