Biography

Blessed Balsamus of Cava (died Cava, November 24, 1232) was an Italian clergyman. He was a Benedictine monk and served as the 10th abbot of Cava between 1208 and 1232. In 1928, Balsamus was beatified by Pope Pius XI. His feast day is November 24. John of Capua described him as a jewel of the priesthood and the crown of prelates.
