Saint Awertyn
Feast day: May 5
Biography
Avertinus (Avertinus Gallus) (died 1189) was a Catholic saint, deacon, and hermit. Avertinus was a deacon from Tours who accompanied Thomas Becket into exile. After the death of Saint Thomas, he lived as a hermit in Tours for the remainder of his life. The town of Saint-Avertin in France is named after him, and his likeness is held in the Carmelite monastery in Obory. His feast day is celebrated on May 5.
