Biography

Ioasaf of Borovsk (died July 5, 1610) was a Russian clergyman and archimandrite of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius (1605–1610). He was the inspiration behind the sixteen-month defense of the Trinity Lavra against Polish-Lithuanian invaders. He died during the siege of the St. Paphnutius Borovsky Monastery. He was canonized in 1981 and is included as a hieromartyr in the Synaxis of Radonezh Saints.
