Biography

Of Scandinavian origin, Anne of Novgorod lived in the 11th century. She became the Princess of Novgorod and married Yaroslav the Wise. A few years later, upon the death of her husband, she founded the Saint Irene Monastery in Kyiv, Ukraine. Anne died in 1056. Proclaimed a saint by the Orthodox Church, her feast day is February 10.
