Biography

Amador of Tucci was a Catholic priest and martyr born in Martos, Jaén (Spain). He was executed in Córdoba during the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula for proclaiming and defending the name of Christ under Islamic rule. He is the first saint of the Diocese of Jaén and the patron saint of his hometown, in whose honor the Parish Church of Saint Amador and Saint Anne was built. Currently, a novena is held in his honor in his town, beginning on April 26 and ending on May 4, with the renewal of the vow of perpetual mayor on April 30, the day of his martyrdom. On May 5, the saint's feast day, a solemn Eucharist is celebrated in the morning, and in the afternoon, a procession takes place through the streets of his neighborhood and town.
