Biography

Alberto Calvi, or de Calvo (Cilavegna, between 1170 and 1180 – Novara, October 8, 1230), was an Italian Catholic bishop, papal decretist under Pope Honorius III, and canon of Novara. He was rediscovered by Father Francesco Pianzola and the Cilavegna monk Cesare Mornacchi, who in 1969 published an essay on his life titled "Il beato Alberto Calvi da Cilavegna." His relics are kept inside the church of Santa Maria in Cilavegna, where an altar was dedicated to him in 2012.
