Biography
The Venerable François Abraham de Georgiis, born in 1563 in Aleppo, Syria, and killed by throat-slitting on April 30, 1595, in Massawa, Eritrea, was a Lebanese Maronite Jesuit priest. Sent to join the Jesuit mission in Ethiopia, he suffered martyrdom there in April 1595. The cause for his beatification was opened in 1902.
